Trade the pulse of entire markets
Indices are a measurement of the price performance of a group of shares on an exchange. There are three types of stock market indices: global, regional and national. The S&P 500 (SPX), Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJI) and Nasdaq Composite (IXIC) are among the world's largest, based on the market capitalisation of their constituents.
Instead of analysing a single company, index trading lets you take a position on the direction of a whole market or sector in one instrument — a powerful way to express a macro view or hedge your broader portfolio.
With AIMS you can go long or short on global benchmarks through MetaTrader 5, backed by deep liquidity, transparent pricing and ultra-low-latency execution.

Two benchmarks worth knowing
CBOE Volatility Index (VIX)
The VIX tracks the market's expectations of changes in the S&P 500. It can form part of a trading strategy as it signals whether the S&P 500 — and the stock market in general — may reverse its current trend. When the VIX hits highs, it is often seen as a time to buy the market; when it makes lows, it is read as a bullish signal.
US Dollar Index (USDX)
The USDX measures the value of the US Dollar against six global currencies: the euro, Swiss franc, Japanese yen, Canadian dollar, British pound and Swedish krona. A rising USDX means the dollar is likely rallying against most other currencies. It also has known relationships with commodities like gold and oil — dollar weakness is generally accompanied by rising commodity prices, and vice versa.

Yes. Index CFDs let you go long if you expect a benchmark to rise, or short if you expect it to fall — making indices a flexible way to express a view or hedge your broader portfolio.
Sessions vary by index. For example, the VIX trades 16:30–23:00 and the USDX trades 03:00–24:00. Equity indices follow their underlying market hours with seasonal Daylight Saving adjustments.
